Appointed to a Transportation Committee!

The city council meeting yesterday was quite eventful— the major event that hit the news was that Warner Robins city council decided to revoke CRU Lounge’s liquor license.

But, the next item on the agenda was that I was appointed to the Warner Robins Area Transportation Study Citizens Advisory Committee by unanimous decision of city council! The bylaws of that committee list as duties:

  1. Provide general advice to the Policy Committee concerning the citizens’ viewpoint on matters related to transportation.
  2. Review recommendations of the Technical Coordinating Committee concerning the various work elements, annual documents, and long range plans and systems, prior to submission to the Policy Committee.
  3. Serve as a liaison to the general citizenry for the exchange of information relating to the transportation needs in the Warner Robins Transportation Study area.

And that’s exactly what I intend to do as a representative of the city of Warner Robins! In particular, I’d love to see our local government follow through on its bicycle and pedestrian plans. These plans are exactly the sort of thing we envisioned when we started Ride Robins earlier this year!

I suppose that’s all for now! We’re planning on doing our next group ride this Saturday, April 6th, at 10 AM at Fountain Park. Hope to see you there!
