Hi y’all!
Earlier this month, we shared that we partnered with the Rusty Chains for our regular rides. Those are going really well and the beginner / C group seems to be having a great time!
The next ride we’re taking it easy and going up to Macon to visit our friends at Bike Walk Macon for their Summer Send-off Social Ride on September 12th instead of organizing a ride of our own. We hope you’ll join us and our neighbors to the north!
We’ve been super busy the last few weeks, doing things like participating in a Road Safety Audit of the section of Watson Boulevard / SR 247 between Westgate Street and Houston Road, focused on pedestrian safety. This is the area of Watson Boulevard from Walmart to the Health Pavilion. We were invited by our friends over at Georgia Bikes.
The audit included folks from GDOT, the federal Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, Georgia Bikes, Georgia Safe Routes to Schools, and the City of Warner Robins. We walked the length of Watson Boulevard and took plenty of pictures of the pedestrian facilities.
We’ll be sure to share the results when GDOT wraps up their report later this year, but it’s our understanding that the Road Safety Audit is likely to result in some upgrades to sidewalks and other pedestrian facilities in the area.
Anyway, that’s much of what’s been keeping us busy recently! We’re looking forward to letting our hair down, hopping on our bikes, and cruising around downtown Macon with you!
See you September 12th!
